Mount Olive College is a private liberal arts college located in Mount Olive, which is a town in Wayne and Duplin counties, in North Carolina, with a population estimated at a number of nearly 5000 inhabitants, estimated during the 2000 census.
Mount Olive College was founded in 1951 and it is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, The North Carolina Association of Colleges and Universities, and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, and supported by the Original Free Will Baptist Convention of North Carolina.
The college's current name was adopted in September, 1970, the educational institution being formerly known as Mount Olive Junior College. Mount Olive College currently offers its students numerous majors and minors in fields of study such as art and visual communication, language and literature, science and mathematics, business management, accounting and other.
Mount College's athletic teams are known as the Trojans, who compete in 16 sports, for both men and women, in NCAA Division II, including in baseball, basketball, tennis, volleyball, softball and track & field. Their distinctive colors are green and white.
Among the teams' most notable achievements there is the 2008 NCAA Division II Baseball National Championship, and the Conference Carolinas and NCAA II South Atlantic Regional titles, won in the same year.
